My aim as a psychologist is to help people achieve their goals and lead more fulfilling lives. There are many different reasons why individuals seek out my services. Sometimes, it is when they want to improve their ability to cope with common life situations, such as pressures at work or difficulties in a relationship. Other times, it is when anxiety or depression significantly interferes in their lives.
With extensive training in evidence-based treatments, I integrate the best of clinical science with a supportive, collaborative environment, and aim to create a setting that promotes growth, reflection, and change. I have over ten years of experience treating mood and anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety, fears and phobias, and depression. I also work with individuals around concerns such as perfectionism, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, work stress, life transitions, and health-related concerns.
My treatment approach combines cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) with mindfulness-based strategies. CBT is effective in helping people make important changes in their lives, with a focus on learning concrete strategies to deal with symptoms of depression and anxiety. Mindfulness-based approaches foster the ability to be more present in our lives and to work effectively with difficult emotions. The combination of these acceptance- and change-based strategies is very effective in promoting meaningful treatment gains.
